Service Learning - Introduction
For our Service Learning component of CSC 300 we are to go out and volunteer at an appropriate venue. The emphasis on this portion of the class is working in some facet with the “digital divide”. According to Wikipedia the digital divide “refers to the gap between people with effective access to digital and information technology and those with very limited or no access at all.” (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Digital_divide) The goal of this assignment is to gather a better understanding of the digital divide in Canada within a particular group of people, as well as how this divide came about. The group that I have decided to work with is the elderly, and the location that I am working with is Kensington Gardens on College and Major Street in Toronto, Ontario.
